Recently the President of the Windsor Minor Hockey Association, Dean Lapierre posted the following comment on his Facebook page:
"Any of those CANADIAN women who wanted to protest the President of the USA and got turned around. Good u dumb bitches. Worry about your own Country CANADA. And your protesting what?"
Lapierre claims the majority of his feedback on this post was positive, and only three people complained.
We cannot allow someone who children look up to to make such inappropriate and disrespectful comments publicly without consequences. It is inexcusable that individuals like Lapierre still see that there's a problem with women speaking out and saying it's time women are treated with respect. To Ian Taylor, Executive Director of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association:
Dear Mr. Taylor,
The Windsor Minor Hockey League's code of conduct states "members of the Association shall refrain from comments or behaviours, which are disrespectful, offensive, abusive, racist or sexist."
The code, which applies to officers of the Association, also explicitly states that it applies to "all social networks."
Those who have signed this petition demand the immediate resignation of Mr. Lapierre, as well as a public apology for the comments he has made.
